Private information retrieval (disambiguation)
PIR refers to one of the following.
- Single-server PIR (cPIR) — one server holds the database; privacy is computational.
- Multi-server PIR (IT-PIR) — the database is replicated across non-colluding servers; privacy can be information-theoretic.
- Doubly-efficient PIR (DEPIR) — single-server PIR with a preprocessed database and query-time communication and computation.
- Symmetric PIR (SPIR) — PIR that also hides from the client every database entry other than the one retrieved.
